Community guidelines
These rules apply in every ChatMingles room, in private messages, and on voice and video calls. They are short on purpose, because rules nobody reads protect nobody. Also, they are enforced, and the section below sets out exactly how.
The rules
Everyone here is 18 or older
ChatMingles has a minimum age of 18, like most social platforms. You confirm your age when you enter a room. Also, we do not allow any content that sexualises a minor, and we do not allow anyone to claim to be under 18. Accounts that do either are removed permanently, without warning, and we do not restore them.
No sexual content in public rooms
Public rooms stay clean. So no explicit text, images, video or links, and no requests for them. This applies whatever the room name suggests. Moreover, sending unsolicited sexual images to anyone is grounds for immediate removal, in a public room or a private message.
No harassment, hate or threats
Do not attack people for their race, religion, nationality, gender, sexuality or disability. Also, do not follow someone from room to room after they have blocked you. Threats of violence are reported and removed. Disagreement is fine, because argument is normal, but abuse is not.
Protect your own details, and other people’s
Never post phone numbers, addresses, workplaces, ID documents or financial details, yours or anyone else’s. Sharing someone else’s private information is doxxing and gets an immediate ban. Therefore keep the chat in the chat, at least until you genuinely trust someone.
No scams, spam or advertising
No investment tips, crypto offers, loan schemes, job scams or romance scams. Also no bulk links, referral codes or channel promotion. If a stranger starts a conversation and steers it toward money, that is a scam almost every time. Report it and block them.
One person, one presence
Do not use bots, scripts or automation to flood a room. Also, do not evade a ban with a new nickname, because ban evasion turns a temporary removal into a permanent one. Finally, do not impersonate a moderator, a member or anyone real.
What happens when a rule is broken
Moderators act on reports and on what they see. Therefore the response depends on what happened, not on who complained loudest.
- A first minor breach
- A moderator warns you in the room and may delete the message.
- A repeated or serious breach
- A temporary mute or removal from that room, usually 24 hours to 7 days.
- Harassment, scams or ban evasion
- Removal from the whole site.
- Anything involving a minor, or a credible threat
- Immediate permanent ban, and we preserve the evidence for law enforcement where required.
How to report someone
Every message has a report option, and every user card has block and report. Blocking is instant and one sided, so the other person is not told. Reports go to the moderation queue with the recent messages attached, because context decides most cases. Also, you can report someone after you have blocked them, and you should, since blocking only protects you while reporting protects everyone else.
If you disagree with a decision
Mistakes happen, because moderation is done by people reading fragments of a conversation. So if you were removed and believe it was wrong, contact us and ask for a review. We will look again. However, bans for content involving minors are not appealable.
